How much does it cost to fix a leaning fence?

A leaning fence is almost always a post problem, so the cost follows the number of posts. One or two posts is a standard repair. If most of the posts along a run have failed, replacing the section costs less than chasing posts one by one.

Why is my fence leaning, and can it be fixed without replacing it?

In Boston the usual causes are posts rotted at ground level, posts set too shallow for frost, and wind load on a solid privacy fence. If the boards and rails are sound, we replace or brace the failed posts and reuse the rest.

How much does it cost to replace a rotted fence post?

Replacing one or two posts falls in the $300 to $900 range. The work is digging out the old post and its concrete, setting a new post below the frost line, and re-hanging the rails. Posts set in ledge or under a root take longer.

My gate sags and will not latch. Repair or replace?

Most sagging gates can be repaired. The cause is usually a leaning hinge post, worn hinges or a gate frame that has racked. We reset or replace the post, add a brace and adjust the latch. A gate with a rotted frame is replaced.

My fence posts lifted over the winter and the gate will not close. Can they be reset?

That is frost heave. A post that was set too shallow gets lifted when the ground freezes. Pushing it back down does not last. The fix is to pull the post and footing and reset it below the frost line, which in Massachusetts is about four feet.

A branch bent my aluminum fence. Do I need a whole new panel?

It depends on the fence. Some aluminum systems let us swap a rail or a few pickets. Many are sold as welded or assembled panels, so one section is replaced. Text us a photo and we can usually tell you which you have.

We needed our fence replaced and Kevin and his team did a great job putting up a new fence in a very short amount of time. Kevin came by check out our old fence and give us an estimate, and within 48 hours, we had a beautiful new fence that is much nicer and more more durable than our old one. We highly recommend the Boston Fence Company.

Very happy with the wooden fence. It’s sturdy and well-installed. The weather caused a slight delay, but the team communicated effectively and didn’t leave until everything was completed correctly.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but these guys did a really clean job. You can tell they know what they’re doing. The black vinyl fence is even all the way through, no weird gaps or leaning posts.
